NEW: Amended National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) EIA Regulations

The amended NEMA EIA Regulations were gazetted on Friday, 18 June 2010 and are listed under 'Environmental Impact Management' on the Department of Environmental Affairs website.

Further information can be found on the following page of the Centre for Environmental Rights website: http://cer.org.za/?p=759. According to the CER website, "The Department has also published Draft Implementation Guidelines that accompany the regulations (R.603 GG33308) for public comment within 30 days after 18 June 2010."

NEW: Draft National Strategy on Sustainable Development and Action Plan

The Department of Water and Environmental Affairs has published a Draft National Strategy on Sustainable Development and Action Plan (http://www.pmg.org.za/node/21731) that will operate between the years 2010 and 2014.

Conservation Bill for the Northern Cape Province

The Conservation Bill for the Northern Cape Province was published in an Extraordinary Gazette, number 1258 in December 2008.

The Conservation Bill replaces the "old" Conservation Ordinance and is in line with the recent National Legislation on Biodiversity issues.
