Project Description

Renu-Karoo Veld Restoration cc directed by Sue Milton and Richard Dean is supervising students (funded by WRC, Asset Research, Rufford Small Grants for Conservation) to carry out veld restoration trials in the southern Nama and Succulent Karoo. Some of the trials are being run in collaboration with Conservation Management Services who prepare erosion control structures into which seeds are sown and cuttings planted. The 2009 trials will be carried in veld once used for ostrich grazing, and is supported by the Ostrich Business Chamber. We are conducting similar trials on roadside gravel quarries.
